ALL KNOWN MEMBER OF ROGER PIRATES

Gol D.Roger was the Captain of the Roger pirates and commanded one of the most famous & notorious pirate crews in history. The Roger Pirates are the only crew to reach Raftel, the end of the New World in the Grand Line. Roger’s crew was known to be the strongest crew to sail the Grand Line. Even though the crew disbanded, the Marines would never allow the crew to be forgotten. If a crew member is encountered, the Marines cannot simply let them go. In sync with the current OP arc, 10 members of the Roger pirates have been revealed. Today, we’ll discuss about these Roger Pirates. Let’s Begin- 10. Buggy- Buggy the ‘Star’ Clown is the captain of the Buggy Pirates. He served as a cabin boy on Roger’s ship with Shanks where he accidentally swallowed the Chop-Chop DF (being surprised by Shanks) and got his powers. 10 ONE PIECE CHARACTERS THAT ARE BASED ON REAL PIRATES



There is a huge number of Pirates in the world of One Piece. You could say the number of pirates in the One Piece world, is the same the stars in the real world. However, only few of them have made a name for themselves in the world. Some of these Pirate’s names are based on real life pirates. So, in today’s list, I named some of the One Piece characters that are named after real pirates.

10. X Drake



X Drake is the Captain of the Drake Pirates, and is one of the members of the Worst Generation. He currently has a bounty of 222,000,000 million berries, and he also possesses a unnamed Devil Fruit which allows him to turn his body into a T Rex. Moreover, he can also use Armament Haki as he was able to beat Caribou a Logia type Devil Fruit users. 



His name comes from a real life Pirate who’s name was Sir Francis Drake. He was an English Sea captain, slave trader, and also a privateer of the Elizabethan era.



9. Silvers Rayleigh



Rayleigh is a former member of the Roger Pirates, and was also their first mate. He was first introduced at Sabaody Archipelago. Rayleigh can use all three types of Haki. He is also a great swordsman and is extremely powerful. 



He is also named after a real life personality, and his name is Sir Walter Rayleigh. Sir Walter Rayleigh was an English landed gentleman, writer, poet, soldier, politician, courtier, spy and explorer.

8. Basil Hawkins



Hawkins is the captain of the Hawkins Pirates, and is one of the Supernovas. He possesses a bounty of 320,000,000 berries and also an unnamed Devil Fruit, which turn his body into a scarecrow like entity.



 Hawkins is named after two people, taken with real pirates and a navigator respectively. His Surname Basil was taken from Basil Ringrose, and name Hawkins from John Hawkins.



7. Eustass Captain Kidd



Eustass Captain Kidd is the captain of the Kidd Pirates, and also is one of the Worst Generation. He has a bounty of 470,000,000 berries and has a Paramecia type of Devil Fruit whose powers are related to magnetism. Kid is named after, William Kidd, who was also nicknamed “Captain”, and his surname is taken from Eustace the Monk. Both of these people were real pirates, and were renowned pirates.




6. Whitebeard



Whitebeard was a former captain of the Whitebeard Pirates, and also a former Yonkō. He possessed a Paramecia type of Devil Fruit called Gura Gura no Mi which allowed him to create earthquakes at will. Whitebeard was called the strongest person, as well as the strongest pirate in the world when he was alive. 



He is one of the characters whose name comes from the real life pirate named Blackbeard “Edward Teach”, who was a feared throughout world.

5. Jewelry Bonney




Jewelry Bonny is the captain of the Bonney Pirates and is a Supernova of her generation. She has a bounty of 140,000,000 berries, and also is a Devil Fruit user. Her Devil Fruit’s name is still unknown, but its powers allow her to change anyone’s age at will, as well as her own. 


Her name is taken from a real-life 18th century Irish female pirate, Anne Bonny, a noble turned pirate, who operated in the Caribbean.

4. Charlotte Linlin



Charlotte Linlin is the captain of the Big Mom Pirates, and also is one of the Yonkō. She is the strongest female character in One Piece, and possesses a Paramecia type of Devil Fruit. The name of her Devil Fruit is Soru Soru no Mi, which allows her to control anyone’s soul at her will. She shares her name with two real pirates, called Charlotte Badger, who was the first female pirate in the world, and second Charlotte de Berry, a female pirate who was from England.

3. Roronoa Zoro



“If is the famous pirate François L’Ollonais the source of Zoro’s name? You got it. I took the name from François L’Ollonais, who was the cruelest of all the Caribbean Pirates” (Oda)

Zoro is the member of the Strawhat Pirates and is their first mate. He possesses a bounty of 320,000,000 berries and can also use two types of Haki. He too is based off of a real life pirate, and also, he is the only Strawhat whose name is based off of a real life pirate.




The name of that pirate was François l’ Ollonais, this was being after the Japanese pronunciation. François l’ Ollonais was a French pirate captain, who roamed the Caribbean during the 1660s.




2. Marshall D. Teach



Blackbeard is the Captain of the Blackbeard Pirates, and he became a Yonkō after Whitebeard’s death. His bounty is still unknown, and he possesses two Devil Fruit. He became the first person ever to eat two Devil Fruits. 



Teach’s name and epithet is taken from real pirate, Blackbeard. However, Blackbeard’s real name was Edward Teach, and not Marshall Teach. The first name was given to Edward Newgate.

1. Thatch



Thatch is the former member of the Whitebeard Pirates, and was killed by Teach. He was the Fourth Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, and was also a Swordsman. Similar to Blackbeard and Whitebeard, Thatch was also named after the real life pirate, Blackbeard, also known as Edward Thatch or Edward Teach.
