Hello everyone, as we know the Wholecake island arc is coming towards the end. Big mom having her Wedding Cake and Luffy fight against the sweet commander, Charlotte Katakuri
is on its climax. This post contain a spoiler, if you want to continue thats up to you.
The latest chapter of one piece 895 has released and we saw the most epic fight between Charlotte katakuri and Luffy. I think this is one of the chapter in one piece where they mainly focus on the battle and not being interrupted by a change of scene thats happening around the Wholecake Island Arc.
The previous chapter teases us the introduction of gear fourth form, Snakeman. The fandom anticipate this form since last week and this week deliver it perfectly as we wanted. However, there are some fans that questions Luffy decision to use snakeman earlier in the fight with the basis if he knew that Snakeman was stronger he should have used it eariler.
If we wanted to analyze this, we must look at the last 3 fights luffy been in.
The first fight is the fight between Luffy and Doflamingo. The fight between Luffy and Doflamingo shows that Doflamingo is superior in terms of fighting skill but maybe equal in terms of Haki. They both have conquerer Haki and its pure devil fruit showdown. The only thing that Luffy lacks in this fight is Devil Fruit Awakening. When we first introduced to Gear Fourth in this fight, Luffy is having the upper hand after getting lots of beating at the first place. However, Doflamingo still can manage that Gear Fourth and even forced Luffy to regain back his Haki.
Second fight involving the sweet commander cracker and Luffy. Cracker might win the fight if luffy didnt know that Cracker is controlling the biscuit. Even so, his sword pretzel are able to cut through luffy hands. It shows that Cracker Armament haki is way stronger than Luffy. One thing about cracker is his high durability and defense. Luffy needed helps from Nami to win the fight. Before the end of the fight, we have been introduced by Gear Fourth, Tank Man.
Third fight is with Katakuri, compared to the other two Katakuri is a monster. He is very strong in terms of Haki and Devil Fruit. He is the only one in the series so far with a special Paramecia devil Fruit. Luffy cant even hit Katakuri at the first place, not even a single scratch on katakuri face. Only after his focused have been swayed after Luffy saw his true face and only then Luffy are able to Hit Katakuri but not long after that, Luffy continue being the underdog.
There exists a pattern between Luffy lasts 3 fight.
- All ended up having a new form introduced
- Two awakened devil fruit users except cracker
You see there is a valid reason for this. Luffy fight with Doflamingo shows an equal fight between them maybe Doflamingo is slightly stronger. The only differences is that Doflamingo Devil Fruit is awakened. Luffy have to use Gear Fourth to match Doflamingo strength and awakened devil fruit.
In the fight against cracker, Luffy needed something stronger to penetrate Cracker Defense and he comes up with a Tank Man. Not to mention, Luffy went Gear Fourth early in the match between Cracker Biscuit before Cracker reveals himself.
For this ongoing fight with Katakuri, he needed something faster to counter Katakuri observation Haki. He went Gear Fourth after discovering Katakuri real strength but he only lands one or two solid hit before being the underdog again. Luffy then attempting to match Katakuri observation only to find him being stabbed in the stomach.
This clearly shows that Luffy is weaker than the enemies that he fought but Luffy didnt give up that easily. The reason why he keep Snakeman as his last resort is that he knew that Gear Fourth wont work twice on Katakuri. Luffy also knew that Katakuri observation Haki is his main strength.
Knowing all of that, He decided to go with the Snakeman way of fighting and it clearly worked. Luffy may be dumb, but he is genius in fighting. If you have no clues on enemies power whatsoever and blatantly using your trump cards from the start, you will end up losing badly.
Katakuri that Luffy been fighting now sustain some injuries and a spear to the stomach. Logically he is not the same as the Katakuri we saw early in the fight. Can you imagine Luffy going Snakeman against him at the first place? Even with that injuries he took seconds figuring out Luffy Snakeman fighting style.
