Hey guys, in the recent days, I’ve seen many One Piece fans argue about who are stronger, the Yonkou, or the Navy’s Strongest Military force, the Marine Admirals. In today’s article, I will be giving my opinion about this topic, but I won’t force it on you, because obviously, you will have your own opinion. So, without any further ado, let’s begin. First let me describe who Marine Admirals and Yonkou are.
Admirals reside in the Marines, and are the strongest military force in the world. There are three Admirals in total, and they have the second highest rank in the Marines. The first Admiral was introduced at Long Ring Long Island. The Admirals are a part of the Navy forces, and hence, are also a part of the Three Super Powers in One Piece. Moreover, they are called the strongest fighters in the World Government’s forces.
On the other hand, the Yonkō, or the Four Emperors, who reside in The New World, are one of the Three Great Powers just like the Marines. They are the four most Strongest, and notorious Pirates in the whole world. Yonkou are the rulers of the New World, and have total control over the New World.
The Yonko can do whatever they want, and can even cause mass destruction, without anybody even questioning them. This the power of a Yonkō, and their crews are also power immensely powerful. Yonkō also have great influence in the underworld as we saw during the Whole Cake Island Tea Party. Now I have explained who Yonkō and Marine Admirals are, let’s talk about the main topic. Many of you think that Admirals can defeat the Yonkō in combat.
But, I digress. I have my own reasons as to why The Yonko are superior to the Admirals. First of all, let’s talk about the “balance” in One Piece. It is said that the Marines and the Shichibukai together oppose the Yonko. If Marines are on par with the Yonkou, why are they taking the help for other pirates and giving them the title of the Shichibukai?
If you are arguing that Marines are the only ones to oppose the Yonkou, and the Shichibukai don’t really matter, I suggest you read the manga chapter in which Garp explains who Yonkou are, and what they are capable of.
Garp stated that “Marines and Shichibukai were formed in order oppose the Yonkō”. I am not making this up, you can check the manga. This is one of the proofs of why the Yonkō are greater then Marines.
Now I’ve seen people argue that The Marines, and the Shichibukai together oppose The Yonko, as in all Four of them, which couldn’t be further from the truth. In Japanese, Yonko could mean one pirate, or all four of them. You can’t really tell. What I believe the equation is, is that the Marines + the Shichibukai = One Yonko Pirate Crew.
Let me give an example. When Shanks was about to meet Whitebeard in person, the World Government, and Marines were preparing for the worst. They were scared, and even the Gorosei were afraid of this meeting.
This is because an alliance between the Yonko is unheard of. If two Yonko unite, the World Government is done for. If two Yonkō powers are capable of destroying the Word Government, imagine what the Four together are capable of achieving.
Many people say that one Admiral’s power is equal to a single Yonkō’s strength. If the Marines had this type of of power, then why didn’t they target a single Yonkō at a time, and capture them with all their forces?
Why do the Marines let Yonkō do whatever they want in the New World? We know Yonkō are great a threat to the World Government itself, why didn’t the Marines won’t take them out if they’ve got the power to do so, makes no sense.
There are a total of three Marine Admirals, even if they send two Admiral against a single Yonkou, along with a bunch of Vice Admirals, then according to your theory, the victory is assured. So, why didn’t the Marines send the Admirals to take down a Yonkō?
The reason is simple. Marine Admirals cannot bring down a Yonkō. This shows us while they are very powerful, it is not possible for the Marines alone to take out a Yonko crew. Every Yonko has Commanders with immense fighting abilities.
In my opinion, the Yonko Commanders are a lot closer to the Admirals than the Admirals are to the Yonko. Let’s talk about the War of Marineford.
In that war, we saw two of the Admirals were fighting against the Yonkō Commanders, Marco, and Jozu. Both Marco and Jozu were on par with the Kizaru, and Aokiji respectively. They didn’t break a sweat during that fight.
I know many of you will say that they lost. But, the fact is that both of them were distracted, and Oda was just looking for a way to get them out of the way. They were not defeated in a 1 v 1. After Whitebeard’s death, the Gorosei were discussing the potential people who could take down Blackbeard.
They mentioned Shanks, Kaido, Big Mom, and the Remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates. This further solidifies my claim that the Marines alone cannot take out the Yonko.
Other Yonkō first mates have also achieved some amazing feats which make me believe that the other first mate will also be able to fight on par with the Admirals. Talk about Katakuri, for example.
This guy is invincible, and has NEVER EVER lost a single fight in his entire life. As a Yonko Commander, do you think he will never have faced a Marine Admiral? I can guarantee that he has, and the fact is that he never lost!
Now, let’s talk about a Yonko who’s fit, and whose powers we’ve witnessed to some extent. Big Mom. The amazing powers that she possesses makes my point even clear that Yonkō are on a whole other level. She is able to control the weather itself, and can manipulate anyone’s soul at her will. Hell, she possesses an impenetrable armour, because of which no one can harm her.
I think she isn’t even the strongest of the Yonko, so the others must be at least equal, if not stronger than her. Mother Carmel stated that with just her brute strength, Big Mom was someone capable of becoming a Fleet Admiral in the future! This was back when she was five, and do you know what? SHE DIDN’T EVEN HAVE A DEVIL FRUIT BACK THEN.
Another point that supports my theory is when Shiki invaded the island of Marineford to take down Roger. He was confronted by Sengoku and Garp together, who were on the level of a Fleet Admiral. Shiki has been the rival of Roger, possesses tremendous strength and endurance, and is a legend comparable to Whitebeard and Roger himself. Because of this, his powers can match the powers of a Yonkō.
NOTE: The movie in which Luffy defeats Shiki is non canon. Don’t go saying that Shiki wasn’t able to fight with pre timeskip Luffy.
If an Admiral is Yonko level, why did it take two Fleet Admiral level marines to stop Shiki. Even then, Shiki was able to gravely injure Garp during that fight, and Garp needed to be carried away by the rest of the Marines.
Think about it.
Two Admiral level characters weren’t able to subdue him properly, and they suffered a lot of loss. He was there alone, without his crew, and even then, Shiki destroyed half of Marineford on his own.
If Shiki was that strong, the Yonko, who are comparable to him, will definitely be too much for the Admirals to handle. With this, I am ending this article and I hope you guys liked it.
